Sharing a love of adventure and the scenic mountains of Colorado; Vail was an easy choice for Becky and Jason as the backdrop for their engagement session. Together we trekked through the snow and laughed our way through a freezing but remarkable afternoon surrounded by the natural beauty that abounds in Colorado. It was an adventurous and memorable day that left us craving a bit more winter and time in the mountains...
Thank you so much Style Me Pretty for sharing Becky and Jason's session and love story online today, you can view it here.

Collaboration is at the root of all of my favorite projects and is one of the many reasons I love shooting the Astrology Edition for Flutter Magazine. This ambitious editorial designed by my talented friend Joy Proctor involved over twenty five creatives; twelve wedding cakes, twelve invitation suites, twelve cocktails and twelve bridal looks to create a unique set of bridal inspiration for each astrological sign. Needless to say, the shoot was an outpouring of wedding beauty and something I was honored to be a part of and more so to capture. You can see the full spread in the current issue of Flutter Magazine (on stands now) which is also available for order here.
Thank you to all of the contributors...

'Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many.' -unknown
As I blow out a candle and welcome a new year I have never been more inspired or enlivened to see what the coming year will bring. Today, with you as a witness, I would like to make a pinky promise and to set an intention for the next 365 days...
This year I promise to live outside of my comfort zone; to challenge what I know as an artist; as a person; to say yes to new adventures; to give back; to share; to take a deep breath; to appreciate those who love me; to be kind; to be brave and above all, to live.
Thank you for joining me for the journey...

Years ago, when I first began working in Miami as a photo assistant I was introduced to the secluded beach paradise of the The Moorings Village in Islamorada. I spent many days working on it's beautiful beaches and it is always the first place that comes to mind when looking for the idyllic island backdrop. Together in collaboration with The Knot and the art direction of Joy Proctor Design I photographed this engagement editorial for the Special Edition Gay Weddings issue of The Knot. All about carefree romance, the lure of the ocean breeze and the smell of salt water in the air; this shoot reminds me once again of the magic and beauty in Islamorada. See the full editorial here + enjoy the trip to paradise....

This April, Chad and I stopped in Paris for a few days while on our way to Amsterdam for the European Wedding Congress. Our previous trips to Paris involved mostly working and in our free time seeing as many of the 'must see' museums and attractions as possible. This trip we decided to leave our agenda open and we took the time to wander the city and let the days unfold before us. Or as they say in France; Flâneur: one who strolls around aimlessly but enjoyably, observing life and their surroundings. We also met one of my favorite authors, John Baxter, who is an Australian born writer who has been living in Paris for 25 years. Having spent over two decades in France, John has fascinating insight into daily life in Paris and also shares stories of Paris in the 1920's and the writers and artists who congregated there during that time. He offers literary walking tours to share his knowledge and stories of Paris all while strolling through the historic and fascinating neighborhood of Montparnasse. We spent the morning seeing firsthand the cafes and streets that lured the famous writers of the time and exploring the Luxembourg Gardens. We concluded our walk with a beautiful Parisian lunch prepared by John himself at his terrace apartment on Rue de l'Odeon on the Left Bank. We ate surrounded by a sea of books and listened to John's stories of adventures in France present and long ago... A rare self portrait of us. This one involved propping a Contax on my bag (in the rain) while using the timer to actuate the shutter. We have found staying in an apartment in Paris truly allows you to soak in daily Parisian life and get off the beaten path. This trip we stayed in a lovely building built in 1730 in the 3rd Arrondissement village of Marais booked through Special Apartments Paris. We also visited the charming neighborhood of Montmarte, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and L'isle La Cite with our Parisian friend and photographer Greg Finck who took a few photos of us along the way...
merci Greg! Each visit to Paris I peel back one more layer to discover another alluring aspect of the city and always leave feeling inspired and connected to history. It's one of my favorite cities to explore and I look forward to a lifetime of trying to discover everything it has to offer.

'See, he's her lobster!' -Phoebe, FRIENDS
One of my favorite aspects of destination weddings is that they are typically multi day events surrounding the couple being celebrated in a place they love. They allow the couple to create an experience for their closest family and friends sharing what they love most and spending quality time with everyone involved.
Johnny and Joanne gathered their closest family and friends together in Carmel Valley to enjoy an authentic lobster bake as an ode to Johnny's upbringing in New England. Guests from all over the world shared stories over corn on the cob with lobster crackers in hand. It was the perfect way to kick off their wedding celebrations...
See more of their celebrations featured in Volume 3 of Utterly Engaged.
Venue: Carmel Valley Community Park // Caterer: Jeffrey's Grilling and Catering // Lobsters and Accessories: New England Lobster Company // Videographer: Sara Amos Films // Dress: Juicy Couture // Shoes: LK Bennett

It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.
-Ernest Hemingway
Thank you Amsterdam for your bustling streets and endless canals...
Chad and I enjoyed exploring while in the Netherlands for the European Wedding Congress this Spring. Our highlights were navigating the entire city atop a bicycle and hopping on the tram, the Van Gogh Museum, peeking in boutiques in The Nine Streets, brunch at Little Collins, lunch at The Seafood Bar and a beautiful dinner off the beaten path at Wilde Zwijnen.
See you next time Amsterdam!!
